Funding challenges experienced by first year vocational students at TVET college in KwaZulu-Natal

Abstract

By generating skilled artisans, TVET colleges play a crucial role in mitigating unemployment and poverty while also bolstering the economy of the Republic of South Africa. TVET institutions oversee the audio throughput after every academic session or calendar. The biggest issue facing the TVET Colleges, and the Department of Higher Education and Training was that many of the students who enrolled at the start of the cycle left during the year, making it impossible for the TVET Colleges to fulfil their mission. The economics, ecosystems, and social equity framework provided the theoretical foundation for this study. Ecosystem theory has helped researchers examine and understand the interactions between individuals and society because financial difficulties in accessing higher education are a social issue that affects individuals, families, and society. Many learners, including students, can enrol in various universities and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges of their choice after matric. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of financial aid services at higher education institutions in South Africa on students. The study applied a quantitative research method, in which students to improve the reliability of the results and avoid bias completed 10 closed-ended questionnaires. The results therefore conclude that financial aid services still play a significant role for students from diverse backgrounds as most of them rely on it to shape their future.
